According to Channel 7 News the Detroit Police Department says targeted efforts to reduce violent crime in the city are paying off.  According to department figures released, there have been 54 fewer murders in the city of Detroit this year as compared to last year. The city says, as of June 23, 120 people have been murdered this year. That’s compared to 193 people over the same period last year. The decrease represents a 27% drop.
